Findlay, Ohio – Findlay City officials would like to remind residents and small businesses to look for a mailer to arrive later this week concerning the new natural gas aggregation program offer from Volunteer Energy Services. Volunteer Energy Services won a competitive bid as the City’s supplier. Residents and small businesses who decide to participate in the City’s natural gas program will pay a low fixed-rate of 55.2 cents per Ccf for all gas consumed during the twelve-month billing-cycle period, December 2011 through November 2012.
Mayor, Pete Sehnert explained, “Volunteer Energy Services will be sending out two similar letters to groups of customers in our community. Please read your letter carefully as some residents will be automatically included into our program unless they opt-out during a 21-day period as stated in the letter, while others will have to take action to join.” Sehnert added, “We are delighted to have been able to strike such a low rate for our residents and small businesses. Our fixed rate is lower than any other comparable offer on the PUCO’s Apples-to-Apples comparison chart and will help residents control their heating costs this winter.”
Jerry Smith, Director of Producer Services of Volunteer Energy Services said, “We are pleased to be the City’s new supplier. For those customers needing to take action to join the City’s program we’ve set up two means of enrollment for their convenience. First, residents and small businesses may call Volunteer Energy Services at 1-800-977-8374 and press option 1. Secondly, they may return the reply card that comes with the letter sent to their home or business.” If you are served by another supplier you should be aware of the obligations in your existing contract before joining the Findlay City program, as many suppliers charge a penalty for early termination. Customers wishing to join the program must be in good standing with their bill payment and cannot be part of the utility’s Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP).
The City is pleased to have made this program possible but asks that you do not call the City offices. They are not equipped to handle a large volume of calls. Residents should contact Volunteer Energy Services toll free at 1-800-977-8374 if they have any questions.
